We departed Hanoi and went to the resort that we booked in Hoi An. After seeing the gloomy sky, breathing poor quality air, and being congested by all the motorcycles, Hoi An was a really nice break away from the city and to the beaches. Honestly, I don't think I'm cut out to be city kind of person, I enjoy the sun and beach life way too much.
We booked the Sunrise Resort in Hoi An as it was the cheaper 5 star resorts among the few options. Actually, I think I only saw this and another one or two hotel in Hoi An that were ranked 5 star on Agooda. Overall, the hotel was amazing and had great value. The architecture kind of reminded me of the Alila Uluwatu resort in Bali (but details of course was not as great).
During our stay here, there was a tropical storm one afternoon and knocked down all the newly planted palm trees in the pool. And the corridors in the hotel was filled with water as the hotel is not entirely sealed and has a great deal of open space. Other than the rain (which is uncontrollable), I really enjoyed the hotel and the services provided. They actually had free shuttle buses to the airport and around town!!! I was overjoyed knowing that for once I didn't have to pay a taxi to get around or pay for a hotel limo (which weren't exactly limos in Asia, more like sedans and SUVs).
